There are various Rugby opportunities in secondary schools in the Scarlets Region, below is a brief description on what's on offer for each year.
Year 7 have festivals and playing opportunities organised locally through Hub Officers and Physical Education teachers. These will be in a variety of playing formats from 7s, 10s, 12s and 15 a side. Pupils will also play arranged fixtures with other schools in the Region.
Year 8 have festivals and playing opportunities organised locally through Hub Officers and Physical Education teachers. These will be in a variety of playing formats from 7s, 10s, 12s and 15 a side. Pupils will also play arranged fixtures with other schools in the Region.
Year 9 has the National Schools cup competition. The National schools cup competition will run from September and will be split up in local authorities before representatives of the schools will go through to the last 32 of the national competition.

Year 10 students will also have the opportunity to attend the Emerging Player Programme(EPPs) within their respective Districts. Pupils will also play arranged fixtures with other schools.
Year 11 have festivals and playing opportunities organised locally through Hub Officers and Physical Education teachers. These will be in a variety of playing formats from 7s, 10s, 12s and 15 a side. Year 11 students will also have the opportunity to attend U16s Dewar Shield Programme within their respective Districts. A Regional Cup is also organised post Christmas for Year 11 pupils culminating in a final at a Premiership Ground.
All schools are encouraged to attend the National URDD 7s Competition and the majority attend Rosslyn Park 7s.
Emerging Player Programme (EPP)
The EPP (Emerging Player Programme) is a Two Year Programme, which starts in Year 10.
In Year 10 the player will have a comprehensive Skills Block with playing opportunities throughout. This Part of the programme will start in September and will finish in April.
In Year 11 the player will enter the Dewar Shield Squad Pre Christmas and will play in the National Competition. Post Christmas the player will undergo a further selection process for the Regional Age Grade Squad (RAG) to represent the Scarlets East or West U16's. This part of the programme will start in July.
