Safeguarding children, young people and adults requires everyone to be committed to the highest possible standards of openness, integrity and accountability.
The WRU have a dedicated Integrity Hotline and e-mail address for members of the public or staff to report any integrity concerns that they have, and this includes safeguarding, anti-doping and other integrity related matters.
‘Whistle-blower’ is a term commonly used to describe a person who alerts an authority to acts of wrongdoing, usually by someone within the authority’s jurisdiction. Whistle-blowers are witnesses to malpractice and must not be penalised for any disclosure of information, in fact certain categories of whistle-blowers are protected by the law.
The WRU supports an environment where staff and volunteers, members and their parents, carers, guardians and the public are encouraged to raise safeguarding and child and adult protection concerns. Anyone who reports a legitimate concern to the organisation will be supported and all concerns will be taken seriously.
