Skills Challenge Certificate

The National/Foundation Welsh Baccalaureate provides a vehicle for learners to consolidate and develop integral and cross curricular skills.

The qualification helps learners to prepare for their future by developing skills, attributes and behaviours valued by educators and potential employers.

The emphasis in the Welsh Baccalaureate is on applied learning i.e. acquiring and applying a range of transferable skills.

Learners will develop skills in the context of purposeful tasks and appropriate knowledge and understanding.

The National/Foundation Welsh Baccalaureate encourages the learner to value skills development as a key aspect of education and life-long learning. It fully embraces and consolidates the core purposes of the Curriculum for Wales, supporting learners to become:

  • ambitious, capable learners, ready to learn throughout their lives

  • enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work

  • ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world

  • healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.

The WRU have created supporting challenge briefs and resources. One is an Enterprise and Employability Brief - A Product for the Principality. The other a Community Challenge Brief - to coach rugby.

Resources to support this challenge can be found HERE in English and HERE in Welsh.  These resources can also be found on the WRU Digital Classroom - www.wrudigitalclassroom.co.uk
