THE AIM
Key Outcomes -u9/10
By the end of u9/10 the relevant players will understand their roles and be able to demonstrate safely the correct body positions
Loose Head
- Bind to hooker first
- Bind tightly to the hooker
- Feet in correct position (feet parallel to touchline)
- Shorten neck
- Tension in chest
- Lock core
- Identify opposition Tight Head Prop
- Bend from hips first, at knees second
- Weight on balls of feet
- Head in correct position position
Tight Head
- Bind second to the hooker
- Strong bind
- Shoulders square, hips square
- Feet in correct position (feet parallel to touchline)
- Shorten neck
- Tension in chest
- Lock core
- Identify opposition Loose Head Prop
- Bend from hips first, at knees second
- Weight on balls of feet
- Head in correct position
Hooker Checklist -
- Bind to Tight Head Prop first to line up square
- Bind firmly
- Bind in middle to upper part of props back
- Hooker to control the sequence to engage safely
- Hooker to practise striking for the ball.
